Dr. Abdul Aziz Ashr: The International Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ICPSS) Focuses on Researching Issues of Democratic Transition and Public Freedoms

Port Sudan — The Director General of the International Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ICPSS), Dr. Abdul Aziz Ashr, stated that the Center focuses on researching issues related to democratic transition, public freedoms, human rights, peace, and technological development, including artificial intelligence, quantitative data analysis, and cybersecurity, as well as the impact of these fields on national security and society. In this context, he noted that the Center publishes an annual strategic report, a quarterly journal, policy papers, and political assessments, and hosts experts from various disciplines through radio programs, podcasts, television shows, social media, and other media platforms.

The Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reported that Dr. Ashr’s remarks were delivered during the Transition Visions program and workshop organized by the Center today at the Marina Hotel, entitled “International Models of Transitional Constitutions: The Constitutional Experience in Sudan.” In the same context, Dr. Ashr explained that the Center is an independent, non-profit research institution specializing in strategic, social, cultural, and economic studies.

He added that the Center was established in 2022 to serve as an active platform for the exchange of ideas, the promotion of constructive interaction, and the management of dialogue at both the local and regional levels. He emphasized that it seeks to contribute effectively to public policy analysis and development, enhance political awareness, and expand constructive political dialogue aimed at advancing political practice in line with unifying national principles. The Center also provides scientific studies and research that address national challenges and propose innovative solutions.

Dr. Ashr further noted that the International Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ICPSS) maintains a wide network of relationships, partnerships, memoranda of understanding, and cooperation with research centers at the regional and international levels. He also highlighted the Center’s participation in founding the China–Arab States Research Centers Association, headquartered in Tianjin, China, underscoring the vital role of research centers in shaping public policies and influencing societal development.
